SENSBIOM I, 2022

SENSBIOM is an interdisciplinary project by architects, designers, material scientists, bioengineers, and olfaction experts asking multiscale questions to be answered by biological materials design.

On the occasion of Association for Computer Aided Design in Architecture 2022 Reception at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia, DumoLab Research and crafting plastics! studio presented a temporary installation that brings together biomaterial-driven and computer-controlled manufacturing of aroma-active lattices.
Fig 1.  Research poster I designed detailing my section of the project, which dealt with developing the structure and biomorphic patterns of the biomaterial module. Presented at the 2022 University of Pennsylvania Fall Research Exposition
Fig 2.  Figures from our associated publication in Frontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology which can be read here showing the biomorphic structural pattern I developed using Grasshopper, as well as some speculative renderings and images from our installation at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia.
